Ben Gillies had teamed up with keyboardist Wesley Carr after a few bottles of red wine and a few hours to create an album and a band name. Tambalane was born due to a spelling mistake while writing down the name of the wine they were drinking that night. But they decided to keep it and it stuck. They then began writing songs for their debut album. It is self titled and was produced by Phil McKellar, producer of silverchair's Tomorrow EP!
