silverchair had announced an "indefinite hibernation" on May 25th 2011. Of this, silverchair had stated via chairpage.com:

"We formed Silverchair nearly 20 years ago when we were just 12 years old. Today we stand by the same rules now as we did back then ... if the band stops being fun and if it's no longer fulfilling creatively, then we need to stop. [...] Despite our best efforts over the last year or so, it's become increasingly clear that the spark simply isn't there between the three of us at the moment. Therefore after much soul searching we wanted to let you know that we're putting Silverchair into 'indefinite hibernation' and we've decided to each do our own thing for the foreseeable future."

Daniel Johns is about to release a full length album titled "Talk" on May 22 2015. The first single, "Cool On Fire" is out now, released on May 1 2015. Pre-order your copy on the official Daniel Johns website.

A little bit of an update on the boys. As most fans would be well aware, Daniel Johns has had a lot of bad publicity over the past year, so he went over to the US to get away for a while. In the meanwhile, he has been nominated, among other famous names like Missy Higgins and Sarah Blasko, for a 2017 Screen Music Award. The nomination for Best Music For Childrens Television is for his work on the music he wrote with fellow Novocastrian Josh Wakely for the animated show "Beat Bugs". The Screen Music Awards will be held on November 13, for more information visit the official Screen Music Awards website. We all wish Daniel Johns the very best of luck!
