A tour announcement! silverchair will be touring for their new album, 'Young Modern' in a couple of months time. Go to chairpage or silverchair's MySpace.
Finally, new silverchair! The new album, 'Young Modern' will finally be released on the 31st of March, following the release of their first single, 'Straight Lines', out now. The film clip was created by Tani Budini of Queensland, who had submitted it in a competition held on MySpace. Go to silverchair on MySpace to few the clip.
I've only just discovered that Ben Gillies has teamed up with keyboardist Wesley Carr after a few bottles of red wine and a few hours to create an album and a band name. Tambalane was born due to a spelling mistake while writing down the name of the wine they were drinking that night. But they decided to keep it and it stuck. They then began writing songs for their debut album. Self titled and produced by Phil McKellar, producer of silverchair's Tomorrow EP, it looks to be a winner - they're even selling red wine at the tour venues! For more info, check out the official Tambalane website.
Still on the topic of The Dissociatives, I have just been informed that they have organised a tour of Australia for later this year. They will be supported by Perth's own Little Birdy and Sydney outfit The Presets. For tour dates and more info, your best bet is to check the website (see below). The venue for the Perth show is yet to be announced.
It looks as though Daniel Johns and Paul Mac are serious about their side project. They've given it a proper name (The Dissociatives) and they have a self titled album coming out soon. The first single from said album, Somewhere Down The Barrel, is one of the most frequently played songs on the radio to date. Check out their website - The Dissociatives - for more info.
Happy New Year, fellow 'chair fans. Good news to start off the year, with Daniel and Natalie getting married! Apparently the private ceremony took place on New Years Eve with family and close friends in attendance. Many happy wishes to the newlyweds!! For more information check out Chairpage.
I visited the Sanity web site recently and to my great delight they were bringing out something new from silverchair's record company, Eleven. It's called "Live From Faraway Stables" and it's a double CD/double DVD pack from silverchair's Newcastle concert from earlier this year. The structure of the concert is the same as for all the "Across The Night" shows and is 24 songs long on both CD's and DVD's. For more details check out the Sanity web site and click on 'New Releases'.
More breaking news. Perth fans listen up! silverchair have scheduled another show at the Belvoir Amphitheatre on Friday March 28!! Tickets for that concert go on sale February 13, and can be booked through Ticketmaster7 and the usual outlets. A big sigh of relief for all the stressed out fans who thought they were going to miss out. Never fear, silverchair are here to the rescue!!
It's old news now, but for those of you who don't already know, Daniel has finally popped the question to his current girlfriend, Australian pop singer Natalie Imbruglia. Nobody knows if the date has been set, but it seems the couple are very happy and want to spend the rest of their lives with each other. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!
It seems silverchair are more popular than ever, these days. I recently found out that every show except for Adelaide has sold out! And all within a few minutes of tickets going on sale. A few cities will be lucky enough to get another show, but for those that haven't yet, we'll just have to sit and wait. As soon as I find out anything, I'll post it here.
Rove, you've done it again! Rove Live presented "silverchair: Inside The Diorama", a one hour special all about the guys and the making of their latest album. It aired at 9:30pm Tuesday night instead of the regular Rove Live program. Daniel Johns described what it was like to write, record and co-produce the album, and how he managed when he stopped taking the anti-depressants he'd been using to control his emotions. He went indepth into his relationship with Aussie singer Natalie Imbruglia and how she was helping him through the tough times. There was also a world exclusive. The official video clip for the song "After All These Years" aired for the very first time on television on the Rove Live special. What The...? (apologies Rove!)
The 2002 ARIAs proved to be fruitful yet again for the guys, bringing home six precious awards for Diorama. It was also the sixth consecutive year that they'd won the inaugural Channel V award, well done fellas! They also did a stunning performance of "The Greatest View" on the big night. Can't wait for next year!
silverchair have announced they will be playing concerts in the US, UK and Germany. They will be their first shows since 1999, and are all part of the international release of Diorama in July. After that, they will do more extensive touring of the Americas and Europe, while Australian fans should stay tuned for a special announcement of a couple of local happenings.
